You Can Teach Yourself Piano
So...I may have gotten distracted.
The Good Thing: I have officially started my challenge!
The Bad Thing: No, I have not started the overdue library books.
Ok, the bad thing about the college application season is that I'm very, very busy and I am often in desperate need for distraction. Sometimes, it's just nice to do something physical for once, like playing piano! And learning code. So, so much code.
I think I've spent a total of 7+ hours now building my website and learning HTML/CSS just to document my progress, and then with all my homework, my tests... it gets overwhelming.
But I am enjoying it dearly so far! Currently, I'm on page 14 fighting through the "opposite directions" exercise and oh boy, are my coordination skills lacking! In all fairness, I am a beginner that last played piano 6+ years ago, and even then, it was a brief affair with the musical arts.
It's quite strange to go back to a instrument you played as a child. I don't thing I've given it a second though since elementary, but now it feels like I'm reuniting with a pet I forgot I had. It's bittersweet, knowing you missed out on something beautiful you once had.
A little backstory: This is my childhood piano book. I played a bit during elementary, but then switched to cello, but I also dropped that after 2 years.
While it isn't really a book I've bought and abandoned, I still consider it one of my TBR books, and it means a lot to me.

For those looking for a review: So far, it's not bad at all! I enjoy the exercises and they feel like a natural progression form one skill to the next. It does feel barebones at some parts, like in demonstrating hand posture and proper technique. However, I am nowhere near done, and this is just a preliminary look at the material I've had the chance to cover. I will say I am quite excited to continue practicing.
Last thing, while I know currently I am going at a snail's pace, I do think this is one of the books I should be spending far more time on, given the newness and difficult of the material. Plus, it means a lot to me.
Happy Reading!
