Sup

Hi! My name is S, and this is where I share my book reviews, general thoughts, and challenge progress!

Check out my reading challenge! I'm trying to read 30-40 unfinished textbooks, magazines, novels, and cookbooks in 274 days! Here is the full challenge for anyone interested: The 274 Day Reading Challenge
-->This is a longer intro if you want to know more: The Intro.

Here are the rules:

  1. Read with intention! This mean no skipping over words, rushing through a book, no half-hearted reading. While this challenge is mostly about having fun, it is also about proving to myself that I can be productive and still have fun at the same time.

It also means if I'm reading a textbook, I'm going to try and actually learn the material, not just glance through it.

  2. No unecessary torture. This means if I find a book unreadable/unreasonably difficult/outlandishly boring, I can drop it.
  3. Have fun! I'm being for real. I know (at least for me) this feels quite unreasonable, but I know I'm genuinely passionate about my books, I've just forgotten what it's like to be invested in something real for once.

And if you're interested in reviews, don't worry! I plan on making reviews for most if not all of the books/magazines/textbooks I'll read during these next couple hundred days and posting them here.
Here is a teaser for some of the books I'll be reading in the upcoming months:

  1. Sensor - Junji Ito
  2. House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski
  3. Empire of the Vampire - Jay Kristoff
  4. A Magic Steeped in Poison - Judy I. Lin
  5. Godel, Escher, Bach - Douglas R. Hofstadter
  6. The Manga Guide to Physics - Hideo Nitta, Keita Takatsu
  7. An Introduction to the Study of Insects - Donald J. Borror, Dwight M. DeLong, Charles A. Triplehorn
  8. Mr. Jiu's in Chinatown - Brandon Jew, Tienlon Ho
